About Us

When You Wish Upon A Star is a small charity

whose primary aim is to grant the Wishes of children suffering from life threatening illnesses and since we started in 1990, we have granted over 14,500 Wishes for some very brave and courageous children and their families. All children have Wishes, but for these children and their families that Wish is much more precious.

Wishes are varied and far reaching. For some a trip to Disney Florida or Paris to meet their favourite characters, for others it is a chance to get up close to a favourite pop star or sporting hero and some children simply want books and toys. Whatever the Wish, wherever possible, When You Wish Upon A Star will aim to make that Wish a reality.

At When You Wish Upon A Star, we rely solely on fundraising events and the generosity of the public to enable us to grant the Wishes of these special and courageous children. Your help is vital and with your support, we can provide a marvellous experience, during a very difficult time.

How It All Began

In 1989, I met a delightful little 4 year old girl Johanna who was very sick, but still managed a smile!

Johanna told me she would love to go to Florida to meet all her favourite characters, so I started fundraising for the family to have a trip of a lifetime, but sadly during this time Johanna's health deteriorated and her Wish could not be granted as this brave little girl passed away.
